The Cultural War
By
Hilmar von Campe

In a recent analysis by the CIA the authors stated that the “United States government paid close attention to the political and economic issues involved in Iraq but not to the cultural.” Culture in this context must be understood to include religion, values, morality, history, traditions, out-look on the outside world, to name some ingredients. The fact that the US leadership did not pay attention to the cultural issues shows that they don’t pay attention to their decisive role at home, in Palestine and nowhere either. But it is this culture, which is different in every nation that needs a priority consideration. It has to be addressed on the basis of the same moral principle for every nation and their people in order to find lasting solutions instead of convenient arrangements. I’ll try to make this statement clear with two examples.

Shortfalls in the War in Iraq

I belong to those who have supported the President in the war in Iraq from the very beginning. The achievements are considerable. 25 million people were liberated from a ruthless dictatorship and there is a persistent policy of creating a democratic Iraq that can defend itself. That is a good concept for our exit. However, the question whether a stable democracy can evolve in a country with an Islamic culture is yet to be answered..

The Sunday Times on January 8, 2006 had to say the following regarding this issue: “In an astonishing admission, Paul Bremer, who led the American civilian authority after the 2003 invasion, said this weekend that the United States had not anticipated the resistance it subsequently had faced in the country. Asked who was to blame for violence, in which thousands of Iraqis and Americans have died, he replied: ‘We really didn’t see the insurgence coming’” With other words no attention was given to the cultural environment of an Islamic nation.

This war may have opened our eyes to the need of preparedness to fight the cultural war. The Vietnam War was not lost on the battlefield but in the cultural war within our own society. The enemy knew better how to win that one. The same is true today. There are plenty of “useful idiots”, to use Lenin’s definition for fellow travelers, who pretend to fight for principle but in fact try to destroy the moral fiber of the nation. You only need to listen to Senators Kerry and Reid to name just two. With other words we fight three wars, a military one in Iraq and cultural wars in Iraq and in our own society. That has not been defined by the government to the American people because they do not like to call a spade a spade. We have to deal with the enemy within otherwise it will be difficult to win any war on the battle field.

Thousands of Illegal Aliens Sneaking Across our Borders

When I had lunch many years ago with the American Charge d’Affairs in Mexico City he explained to me that the embassy’s focus was mainly on the economy. The problem the United States has today with millions of Mexicans who can’t find work in their own country and therefore illegally stream into our country as well as a multitude of Moslem terrorists is most likely caused by this lack of focus on reality by the Mexican and US governments. This reality is the unaddressed corruption of the Mexican government establishment that prevents Mexico to use their many assets of the country like untapped oil and gas for the benefit of ordinary people. For decades from the President down to the last policeman – nearly everybody of this “elite” works into his own pocket and helps manipulating the population for getting the votes. I might add that I don’t have the impression that the Bush administration is addressing the heart of the issue but is working on important but secondary issues. .

In my recent visit to Mexico I was told by friends, business associates, taxi drivers and others as that corruption continues unabated. However I have no evidence that President Fox is part of the financial corruption. But he inherited the consequences of corruption of his predecessors and now tries to push them on us without explaining why Mexico lacks millions of jobs for its people.

At the heart of the corruption is Petroleos Mexicanos, Pemex. I am told that Mexico could at least double the oil and gas production with the consequence of additional multiple new petrochemical and other industries with an explosive potential of employment growth. But they don’t have the technology and capital to do it. And the same political party which still today has a majority in Congress put decades ago a clause into the Constitution forbidding the inclusion of foreign capital in the operations of Pemex. That is, they reason, because the oil is property of the Mexican people. But the people don’t really interest them nor do the people benefit from the available resources as they should. They suffer from the lack of development. The PRI, the party of the trade unions, don’t want to lose the stream of money into the pockets of the functionaries. There are much too many workers on the payroll – many of whom most likely do not exist. Fox apparently tried to change this situation but was blocked by the PRI.

It should be possible for Pemex to employ foreign companies without giving up Mexican ownership. But they would have to allow an efficient operation which now does not exist, and the pay-offs would have to disappear. The issue needs to be dealt with diplomatically in the right way and by the right people but the pressure for change should be on Mexico as pre-condition for any solution to the problem of millions of Mexican workers in the United States who broke our laws by sneaking into the country.

Attacks by the radical extremists of the ACLU on our very culture

Almost daily, ACLU extremists launch savage assaults against Americans, the Boy Scouts, communities, schools, people with devout religious beliefs, and even against such hallowed traditions as Christmas and Easter. Their 2200 lawyers are working hand-in-gloves with judges across the country that are sympathetic to their cause and are being paid for what they do with government that means taxpayers money. That must be stopped. Like Hitler and the Nazis they are driving God out of the schools and society and try to limit pastors to preach only personal religion. They apply the lie that there is a constitutional separation between church and state. The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals on December 19, 2005 rejected the arguments of the ACLU which sued Mercer County, Kansas to withdraw the Ten Commandments from a courthouse display. The panel voted 3-0 to reject the ACLU’s contention, that the display violated the Establishment Clause of the Constitution. Judge Richard Suhrheinrich stated in the name of the court that the ACLU’s “repeated reference ‘to the depravation of church and state’ has grown tiresome. The First Amendment does not demand a wall of separation between church and state…”

The ACLU and others want to get rid of God’s moral absolutes and launch false philosophies and implement laws which destroy the connections of people with God‘s commandments, their history and tradition and entice them to give in to their lusts and ambitions. The result is ignorant people who can be manipulated. Their character will lose integrity and the capacity to fight effectively the cultural war and defend our freedom will be destroyed. I see a lot of individual Christians who alone or in groups fight a moral battle for the soul of their nation. But the majority of the pastors don’t lead their congregations to deal with the moral issues of the nation. They prefer the comfortable personal framework and the security of tax deduction for church income.

America is faced from inside and from outside with boiling hatred, deception, media disinformation, subversion, lies. Disinformation already begins in the public school system. Our youth learn very little if anything about our Constitution and the life and purposes of our founding fathers. According to school text books you would think that the Pilgrims were atheists, that they came to America for economic reasons and that Thanksgiving was designed to thank the Indians. In this website you find ample analysis of reality and answers to them. I refer especially to my articles Moral Relativism vs. Moral Absolutes – Education in the Cultural Ideological war, The Encirclement of America, To Strangle in Embrace, God and Islam.
